Reach-ins, prep tables and ice machines
The equipment that quietly stops on a Friday. We repair it, clean it and keep it on a schedule if you ask.
Reach-in boxes fail on gaskets, fans and thermostats. Ice machines fail on water, scale and condensers. Both are cheaper to fix on a plan visit than in the middle of service.
Glass-door and solid-door reach-ins, prep tables, back-bar boxes
Ice machines: not making, not releasing, slow or noisy
Condenser cleaning and coil checks

What you see
Signs it needs a visit
Warm in one spot
The top shelf is fine and the bottom is warm, or the door side is warm.
Frost on the back wall
A defrost or fan problem, not a thermostat problem.
Water on the floor
A clogged drain or a failed door gasket.
Ice that comes slowly
Or in a thin slab, or cloudy and soft. Scale or a failing condenser.
Compressor running all day
A dirty condenser coil or a low charge.
A noise that is new
Fan blades, a loose panel or a bearing.
The quote
What drives the cost
No dollar figure here: we quote what we see.
The part
Gaskets and thermostats are small; compressors are not.
Water
Scale on an ice machine can mean a descale or a water filter, not a repair.
Age and model
Some older models have parts we have to order.
Where it sits
Under a counter, behind a line, or in a stockroom.
Questions
Line equipment questions
Do you clean ice machines?
We clean and descale as part of a plan visit or a repair visit. For food-contact sanitizing, follow the maker's schedule and your health district's rules.
Can you repair before we open?
Often yes. Tell us your hours when you call and we try to be done before service.
Is the Kitchen plan worth it for one machine?
Maybe not. The plan covers up to two units for one price a year, so it makes the most sense for a kitchen with a walk-in and a reach-in or an ice machine.
Is the machine down?
Call the shop. We will give you a window and tell you what to check while you wait.
